Ozone Damage

Forestry and Game Management Research Institute Archive, Bugwood.org
Ozone is the primary air pollutant in smog. It is the most common chemical air pollutant that damages trees in cities. Ozone can cause stippling, bronzing or bleaching of the foliage of sensitive broadleaf plants. In conifers, such as white pine, yellow or brown mottling, flecking and tip burn can be cause by ozone. Sensitive woody plants include ash, black cherry, crabapple, hemlock, honeylocust, lilac, linden, silver maple, sycamore, tulip poplar.
